How does Spinal Joint dysfunction occur?

The stressors of everyday living such as housework, gardening, desk work, or sleeping in a bad position can cause spinal irritation, and may cause the bones of the back, called vertebrae, to shift out of their proper alignment or affect one's range of motion. Falls, accidents, sports activities, and injuries, may cause more acute irritation. In children, joint dysfunction can initially occur in utero, during the birth process, in play and from everyday childhood activities.

What are some warning signs of joint dysfunction?

Symptoms such as headaches, back pain, neck stiffness, pain in your shoulders, arms or legs, numbness in your hands or feet, are the most common signs of joint dysfunction. But like a tooth cavity, most people will have some level of joint dysfunction long before they notice any symptoms.

How are spinal joint dysfunctions corrected?

Your chiropractor will reduce spinal joint dysfunction with highly skilled adjustments to your spine. If the joint dysfunction has been present a short time, you may only need a few adjustments. However long-term, chronic solutions will require more frequent adjustments to retrain the nervous system. As the joint function is corrected, your nervous system starts to function properly again and your body heals itself.

Combined with a sensible diet, moderate exercise, and stress management, chiropractic care can help you enjoy the best of health for the rest of your life. A chiropractor should be a member of everyone's life!

Is Chiropractic Safe?

The safety and effectiveness of chiropractic treatment has been studied very carefully. To date, no significant findings have shown that the risks are any greater than those for other back pain treatments. In fact, studies have found chiropractic to be extremely safe and effective in alleviating back pain. If a chiropractor diagnoses a problem that would be better treated by another health care professional, he or she will make an appropriate referral. Complications from chiropractic treatment are rare. Your chiropractor will discuss all the benefits and potential side effects and risks of any care you receive.
